Is it ok to have non-surgical cosmetic treatments during Coronavirus

Is it ok to have non-surgical cosmetic treatments during Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak?

Due to Coronavirus (Covid-19) widespread outbreak, we are all are experiencing a time of significant uncertainty and concern. According to the latest figures, more than 6,650 patients have been infected with Covid-19 in the United Kingdom. We at Cosmetic Clinic Group are completely focussed on the well being of our clients and staff. We promise our clients high levels of hygiene and a safe and healthy clinic environment.

Let me talk a bit about Coronavirus and how it has impacted us

Transmission:  Covid -19 outbreak is caused by a member of the coronavirus family. Currently, we do not completely know the extent and the types of transmission. The virus causing COVID-19 seems to be spreading easily. Human to human transmission has been confirmed by China’s national health commission. The infection is mainly spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It is possible that an individual can get infected from contaminated surfaces and objects. There is also a theoretical possibility that COVID-19 could spread from animals to humans.

Symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The incubation period (time period between exposure to infection and developing symptoms) of COVID-19 is 2 to 14 days. In most cases it causes flu like symptoms including fever and cough and the treatment is same as you would treat any other flu. However, a minority will develop severe pneumonia. Symptoms of severe pneumonia include severe difficulty in breathing, chest pain or pressure and decreased levels of consciousness. Individuals at high risk of developing severe symptoms include older adults and those with underlying serious chronic medical conditions such as heart diseases, lung diseases, cancer and diabetes.

Prevention Measures:

Currently we are facing a global outbreak of COVID-19 and it is everyone’s responsibility to take measures for prevention of the spread of this disease. Here are some of the recommended preventative measures:

  1. Hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after been in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  2. If soap and water is not available, use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth especially with unwashed hands.
  4. Avoid close contact with anyone who has symptoms of flu.
  5. Stay home if you are sick.
  6. During coughing and sneezing, cover your mouth and nose, immediately dispose off the tissue and wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water is not available, use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
  7. Wear face mask if you are sick.
  8. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, phones, keyboards, toilets and sinks.
What preventative methods are we taking at our cosmetic clinic group to stop the spread of COVID-19?

At Cosmetic Clinic Group, we have instituted several measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. These include:

  1. We are asking all our clients to wash their hands with soap and water or use alcohol gel once they enter and leave any of our clinics.
  2. The doors of the treatment rooms are opened and closed only by a member of the staff.
  3. The clinicians doing the consultations or carrying out the procedures wash their hands with soap and water after every consultation or procedure and take all the aseptic precautions during the procedure.
  4. The procedure table is cleaned with a disinfectant spray after every procedure.
  5. The whole clinic is thoroughly cleaned at the start of the day, at the end of the day and if required during the day time.
  6. The commonly used objects such as tables, trolleys, doors and door handles are sanitized repeatedly throughout the day.
  7. We are advising our staff members and clients who have symptoms of flu to call us for telephonic consultations.
  8. While booking a consultation/treatment, we ask our clients if they have had any symptoms of flu/cold or if they have travelled to any of the following countries- (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, Iran) to wait for 2 -3 weeks before scheduling their appointments.
  9. Using masks during the consultation and procedures.
Is it ok to have non-surgical cosmetic treatments during Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak?

Currently we are experiencing a high volume of telephone calls and one common question asked is ‘’ Is it ok to have a treatment done during Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak? ‘’. Currently we are advising clients who are healthy and do not have any symptoms of cold/flu to come in as they normally would.
However, if you have cold or flu like symptoms such as fever, cough, our advice is - you should stay home! If you experience any of these symptoms, we kindly request you to reschedule your appointment for a later date.  If you have had any symptoms of flu/cold or if you have travelled to any of these countries that have suffered massive coronavirus outbreak - China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, Iran, we request you  to wait for 2-3 weeks before scheduling your  appointments.
